Solid Waste Cell and Wetland
The cell was challenging to design taking into considering the existing landscape which was steep hills and valleys. Another challenge was controlling drainage that could adversely affect our solid waste liner system. Using a combination of perimeter ditches and perimeter berms the decision was made based on quantitiy comparisons and cost. The wetland was also challenging as it was along side a steep hill and a short distance to the outlet. The solution was multiple impermeable 'containment' berms that would pond but allow seepage through a permeable section and allow flow to the next pond.
