Street Rehabilitation and Paving
There were many challenges with these programs. Streets were determined in the winter so preliminary design was based on approximate lidar surface information and then survey conducted in spring with construction to follow soon after. The construction took place in areas bedrock so hubs were often difficult to establish so offset distance varied. I worked closely with contractors to make sure the offset and elevation data matched their string line and concrete forms. Upgrading existing infrastructure and providing positive flow to tie in was challenging with very flat grades so accuracy was critical. My role was start to finish involvement including preliminary surveying and design/drawing development; quantity calculations, and daily activity reporting. These projects were demanding, dynamic, and required timely preparation and clear communication with contractor and client.
