Elevation Mapping
The challenge with these types of drawings in Civil 3D are very large file sizes that can easily bog a system down. When using large topology data sets that require accurate contours, drainage direction, and surface analysis over large areas, Civil 3D literally falls flat. The solution here is to use a combination of Civil 3D's best and quickest features with other mapping software than can 'handle' the visual mapping.
